Kaitlin

2010

In July of 1998 Kaitlin’s father was diagnosed with Leukemia.  She was six years old.  She and her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska so he could get better treatment.  In the spring of 1999, with her father showing improvement, they moved back to Overland Park. Unfortunately, in May of that year he passed away.  Kaitlin remembers her father as a kind and compassionate person, who treated everyone with respect and compassion.  Since his death Kaitlin has committed to being the type of person he was, some one who lives life to the fullest and trusts in God’s plan.

While Kaitlin was growing up she began to take voice lessons and discovered her passion for singing.  She soon realized it was a gift from God and its one of the things that keeps her going strong.  She became very involved in her youth group, school choir and musicals.  She recently has discovered a love of writing songs.  With the KLL Scholarship she is attending Kansas State University.  She is undecided on a major, but plans to keep music involved in her life.

2012 update

I’m a sophomore at Kansas State University.  My major is Family Studies and I plan on going to Grad School to get a masters in counseling! This summer I worked at my church as a Summer Staffer. I worked with middle school girls and it was awesome!  I loved getting to know them and helping them learn how to be confident in themselves. That's why I decided to be a middle school counselor. I’m also involved in a sorority called Kappa Kappa Gamma. I’m am involved in a church called Ichthus. I help lead worship there and I’m also in choir. This year I got a job at Varsity Donuts, the newest addition to Aggieville.  I would just like to send my appreciation to all the donors! This scholarship is such a blessing and it wouldn’t be possible without you! Thank you so much!!!
